HEV light


Solar pollution, or light pollution, is emitted by all light sources.The sun is the greatest source of light, and therefore of light pollution.As the light spectrum shows, the sun produces both ultraviolet (UV) light and visible light.UV exposure is known to cause skin damage, including burns, signs of photoaging, and some skin cancers.However, recent research has revealed that visible light has its own dangers.

Visible light is light that can be seen with the naked eye and often comes in colors ranging from long-wavelength red, to blue and violet, to short wavelength.The shorter wavelength blue and violet lights are at the upper end of the energy spectrum, at the edge of the range of higher energy invisible UV light.This particular part of visible light is known as high energy visible (HEV) light.

HEV light accounts for one third of all visible light and is considered harmful to the skin.Also known as blue light, HEV light is problematic for several reasons.First of all, it is emitted by digital screens, such as smartphones, computer screens and LED televisions, and the proximity of users to the light source (compared to the distance that separates us from the sun) worries scientists who fear acute skin damage.Second, HEV light is harmful because it penetrates deeper into the skin than UV light.

Specifically, HEV light causes inflammation and damage to skin cells called melanocytes, cells that produce skin pigment.This damage causes the melanocytes to malfunction and produce age spots and other skin discolorations.This damage is in addition to other signs of photoaging related to HEV light, including wrinkles, sagging, rough texture and dryness.
